Avocado Toast

Avocados are full of heart-healthy fats and when combined with whole-grain toast they create a dish that’s full of nutrients and flavor. Add a pinch of espelette pepper (available at most spice shops or gourmet groceries) for a touch of smokiness.

Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients:
1 ripe medium avocado, mashed
4 slices low-sodium sprouted whole-grain bread, toasted
¼ tsp. espellete pepper (or ½ tsp chili pepper)
Preparation:
1. Spread ¼ of mashed avocado onto each slice of toast.
2. Top with espellete pepper.
Tip: Espelette pepper is a French variety of chili pepper. It can be found in specialty stores or online, or substitute paprika.
